I have 2 pink tipped anemones - one of them has recently taken on a brown tinge. Otherwise - acts healthy, eats fine, etc. Have attached px of both. Any thoughts?
I have a 4x65 lighting set. 2 actinics, 2 white. I feed them shrimp (frozen stuff @ grocery store) and krill. Here are my parameters: pH 8.2, sp gr 1.022, amm 0, nitrite 0, nitrates 10, phos - off the chart as of Monday, but added a phos remover kit. (The anemone was brown before I added this kit) Calcium was 200 on Monday also (and I'm still adding to get it higher).
mine did the same thing , mine got even browner very ugle. Since then i got an anenome that looks like ur secound one but the tips on mine r smaller then a pencil dot.
Nothing to be worried about. The anemone is simply regaining its zooxanthelllae, which is the color brown. The zooxanthellae most likely died in shipping (from the ocean to your LFS), but under the proper conditions, it will grow back. Yes, it will most likely completely turn brown, but at least it's a healthy anemone

i would say because it is so white but i was just saying that i would be more worried about the 1 in the 2nd pic not the 1 in the 1st pic if you under stand what i mean ( not the there is anything wrong with them at all just that the 1st pic lookes better then the 2nd pic)
