is there any coral for a beginner that does not require a sump?

Those would be good if you provide adequate lighting. Many people have trouble with Xenia going crazy and taking over the tank. Me, I can’t keep them alive but have lots of other corals that do great.

Toad stools are pretty easy.
GSP are a favorite of mine. They can take over a tank like Xenia.
Mushrooms are easy.

My picture in my avatar is of my wrasse next to a frogspawn frag that I had in my 36 gallon bowfront. No sump. A good filter, regular water changes, a decent powerhead for flow and a solid light are all that are required for the easy to moderate difficulty corals.

I didn't have a sump on my reef tank. Had a HOB skimmer, several powerheads in tank, and live rock and live sand. Relied more on natural filtration which worked extremely well.

My Frogspawn has done well under a cheap Mars Aqua light bar with ambient powerhead flow. I did notice that it responds well to two small feedings a day of frozen reef frenzy (which feeds all your fish, inverts, etc. as well). It's a bit of a gamble but one of the Chinese black boxes might be the best bang for buck. Just be aware that sometimes quality control isn't the best in the long run and you can't customize them the way that you can with higher end lights:
