is this a bad idea?

i premixed 10 gallons of salt water for future water changes. the water is fully sealed in 5 gallon plastic gas cans. how long can this be stored? will this kill any of the important trace elements in the salt water? right now it has to be stored in an area where it might freeze. will it be a problem to thaw it for a day or 2 and when ready for use, heat and aerate the water. should this be good? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

Technically I can't think of a reason why even freezing would cause a problem.I often store premixed water for weeks at a time...And Never had a problem. But because thawing out a five gallon chunk of ice will take forever,I would suggest that you move it to a place that it won't freeze,,,but as I said I cant think of how freezing could hurt it...

I have also stored premixed water for weeks at a time and never had a problem. I always recheck the salinity in case of evaporation (I live in AZ) and I check the temperature too. If it is frozen not only will it take time to thaw it will also take time to rise to a safe temp.

yes, i do plan to move the water. i also plan to store it at room temp for a day prior to using, if not frozen. then will heat the water to tank temp and aerate during the process. is this even necessary to do or just added work?

sorry, but tha tsounds like alot of work, just to get water back to where you started, jsut make up the water and heat and circulate for 24 hours before using it, other wise, you should make it, circulate(one day), freezse(better part of a day or more), then thaw, one day or more a block that size should take near forever, raise temp another day, then add, you can cut out all those middle steps, and save time, and do it all in about 24 hours
