Is this a good deal?

My opinion is 50/50 olga, in that I am not familiar with the prices of some of that equipment. But looking at the overall package at first glance, my first thought was $500. But again, some of that equip. could be worth a lot more than I am taking into account. Looks like it has all been cleaned up and taken care of though....

i wouldnt spend that much either. u have to know that given a reef setup u are going to spend a good 500-600 on NEW lights alone. i would give him 500ish as well.

Thanks for the advice. This would be my first purchased tank.
Wait for some more opinions other than mine then. I would hate for you to miss on a great deal, but on the other hand, I have been in your position and jumped the gun, only to find out that I way overpaid. The members on here are pretty good at analyzing this stuff.

Im going to ballpark to how much I think some of the equipment cost: MSRP
Tank and stand - $1200
uv sterlizer - $150
ro canister - $120
sump - $100
wave maker - $100
protein skimmer - $100
Total= $1770
let me know if you think my estimations are accuarate? thanks

I wouldnt do reef though. But yea, lights for the tank and the uv sterlizer are very expensive.

The one thing jumping out at me is the tank/stand...I don't see that being worth $1200, especially without some sort of lights to go along with it. Unless it's some sort of mahogany or something that I can't see from the pic.

Yea, its probally not. I think I have been spending to much time at my lfs were they overcharge like 100%. Yea it doesnt say what the stand is made of?

Vs. new equipment it is a great deal, but vs. used equipment...not that great. I have within the last year or more actually aquired a 125 and 120 with more equipment, live rock, sand and fish (that I sold) included. I paid 650 for the 125 and 500 for the 120. You will more than double that price when you actually buy the stuff required to get it going.

Anyone know what he means by (PM)? I see it on the pics too.
PM is a brand and if "you pay for what you get" it's a good brand...the sump...who cares it's a sump...a cheap tank can do that job. The PM protein skimmers are pricey which would seemingly dictate superior quality. I don't know that from personal experience. I have never had one. It is decent equipment (the skimmer anywho) IMO and this is just me...the RO unit is worthless, and the UV is debateably worthless, wavemaker worthless, pumps below average, and none of your major expenses are included...lighting, rock and sand not worth 850...talk him down
.
