I was in the hobby about twenty years ago and just took it back up about a year ago. As far as the tank, the tank is just over a year old. The turkey baster idea is fine for the floaters, but I've also got some attached to my live rock. I only noticed them yesterday.
I've read some forums that say the peppermint shrimp will eat them. I've also read that vinegar dipping the rock will work and rinsing them really well will help to get rid of the ones on the rock.
So how do you actually get rid of these guys. I'm going to start the baster thing tonight, but I'd like some other ideas on the removal from the rock.
Pluck the rest off with forceps, etc. You should be able to blow them off the rock with the turkey baster and then suck them up. I've never heard of peppermints eating them and I highly doubt that they would. Peppermints that eat aiptasia usually stop eating them if the tank is being fed (if there are fish in it), etc.
I wouldn't dip them or rinse them if you're tank is that far established. Once the tank is over a year old, you don't want to have to dip or rinse unless it's a last resort because you're going to have to re-cure the rock again and disturb the tank, etc. Good luck with them.
