I have known this guy for 20+ years. He was definitely not in Vietnam. He brags about how he dodged service.
I asked him about the beads and he tells me his room mate gave them to him. He has no clue what they are for, just liked them on the bike.

Just thought the beads were odd. It was a couple of my other employees that pointed it out to me. I would never have pegged this guy as swingin' for the other team, but you never know.

never would have thought of that, but you are right. My dads left chest of his unfiorm is stuffed with ribbons. That one has a few bronze stars on it. That would be fun for the kids to do.

As far as this dude, he just sounds like a lot of people that walk this earth....slightly ignorant, doesn't care what most people think, goes to work, pays his taxes etc.

No, a rainbow or solid purple beads yes but those are not. I vote for either the military thing or random beads - motorcyclists love beaded things

Hmmm.... two threads on battin' for the other team on the aquarium tonight .... *raises eyebrow*

agreed. a very good friend of mine died in high school, and as a result, many people (still to this day) wear his signature bandanna in their back pocket. he was like, the MOST popular kid in school, but EVERYONE loved him, he wasnt smug, it wasnt at all like teen movies make high school to be like, he had friends in every group, the nerds, the band geeks, even the goth kids loved him for some reason, and i did too. nicest person ive ever met, its no surprise people still, all these years later, honor him. I am a big, large fella that you dont wanna mess with, and people see the bandanna and think i am like that
but im not. I miss him.

You can't really fire someone for being socially ignorant. Our unemployment rate would be 20-25%.

If a lawsuit would come out of your back pocket, you need to do some reading. If you are not THEE boss, but is his immediate boss and you don't report it..... as in YOUR boss knows nothing about it and the information stops at your level, the buck stops at you. You would be named in the case (and probably your boss as well).
Unlawful harassment is a form of discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other federal authority.
Harrassment is unwelcome verbal or physical conduct based on race, color, religion, --- (whether or not of a sexual nature and including same-gender harassment and gender identity harassment), national origin, age (40 and over), disability (mental or physical), sexual orientation, or retaliation (sometimes collectively referred to as “legally protected characteristics”) constitutes harassment when:
The conduct is sufficiently severe or pervasive to create a hostile work environment
Actions which may result in hostile environment harassment, but are non-sexual in nature, include:
  • Use of racially derogatory words, phrases, epithets
And besides that.... it's just wrong to say it or tolerate it.
