the savings ($) for our tank, because of the low calcium in the water we use would save us approx $26 per month. we have to use a lot at water change to get the new water at 450, then the 1 tbsp per week for what the corals are absorbing.

well it looks like there are alot LESS fillers in HTH calcium plus than in seachems calcium
HTH 93% ingredients 7% filler
seachem 36.46% ingredients 63.54% filler

WOW! I haven't seen this much debate since the one on the use of Southdown sand! As with Southdown, I am sure others will try the HTH product and over time we will know if there are any problems or not. I work in the safety field and given OSHA and EPA and other government regulations and not to mention the products liability exposure to the company I can't believe that this product can be that dangerous when used correctly for the situation given it is used in pools and around humans. However, I can appreciate Steamboats caution given the $$ investment in his set up. If this product does turn out to be an inexpensive alternative, like the pickleing lime for Kalswasser, I'll be one to try it out. That means more money to spend on corals for my tank.

It is information like this, that we need before we stick something in our tank. This is all that I was after. Research is the #1 thing in this hobby, I am sorry that it took this long for someone to actually do the research.

How long has anybody been dosing this product? I would like to know about the long-term effects of using it.

I use Ball Pickling Lime. $1.49 at Food Lion. 1 tsp per gallon, drip like kalkwasser. Can't get much more ecconomical.
Where would we be if no one ever tried anything different?

i've been using the stuff for 3 months. no ill effects, seems to be working well. didn't put in near the research that falcon63 did. i've been following the board 93% ingredients 7% fillers vs. seachems 35% ingredients 65% fillers does make ya kinda wondering what your putting in your tank.
