!--!Is this Brooklynella and if so, can I treat with Formalin while in Hypo?--!

My thread of "clown acting weird in hypo" seems to have no interest, I am now really worried my fish has Brooklynella. I have 2 clowns in the same QT right now, one is perfect, the other one is definatly sick, I just don't know from what.
I am trying to get pictures, but he has lightened in color, all of his fins look frayed, his pupils are smaller, and he breaths rather fast paced through his mouth. I see no flaking of anything, no white spots really, he has one lighter than the rest of him spot under his mouth that extends down to his underside slightly, the black on his fins has also lightened considerably. If you feed him he does eat, not as much as before, but some. He is trying to be territorial over a rock in the QT with the other Clown.
If he has Brooklynella I want to start him being treated soon because I have read it kills quickly, he has been acting this way now for between 48 and 72 hours. He has really showed no signs of improvement or degrading.
I did buy Formalin and was considering following Beth's treatment bath, but I was worried about him being at 1.009 SG and also since he acts somewhat weaker if it would be too much for him. I know if it is Brooklynella that this is probably the only way to get rid of it, but if it is not, and is something else, I don't want to kill him by doing something wrong.
I started Hypo 2 1/2 days ago, I moved them to their QT tank (29 ga) and after about 10 hours for them to settle down I started hypo treatment EXACTLY as stated in Beths FAQ, however I didn't check my replacement waters PH and did have my PH drop to about 7.4, I have buffered it and done (4) 5ga water changes to help with ammonia and to help bring up the PH. Now my PH has been at 8 to 8.2 (increasing gradually) for a full day. I brought it up from the 7.4 over about a 18 hour period. SG is at 1.009 and Ammonia is between 0 and 0.25, maybe .35, I have been changing water to bring that down until I can get my sponge filled with bacteria from my DT.

Take a look at the pictures below to see if this is what your seeing. Also below is the procedure for treating brooklynella. You will use water from the hypo tank to threat the fish, it won't be a problem, but you need to follow the procedure exactly.

No Ma'am, not really, the spot under his mouth looks kinda like the spot under the mouth of the last fish on this page
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/127010/diseased-fish-pictures#post_914673
but other than that, no, his color just faded. These pictures look like they have something on the fish, my guy just looks pale, his fins have lost almost all of their black, whereas these fish still look like their balck is fine. (which I did look at before, trying to figure this out, just want you to know I tried to do research before just asking)
Also, his fins are frayed, kinda like towards the end they split into thin things, almost like a broom.

I'm assuming that this is the smaller of the 2 clowns? And that the larger is picking on him? What are you feeding them? If you still have ammonnia, keep the pH at 7.9ish, not above 8.0. Add 3 cups of sand from your display tank into your QT to help with seeding.
Contributing factors, in addition to harassment, is poor water quality. Those spots may be lymphocyctis, which is consistent with a stressed fish.

Thank you soooooo much Beth.
-Yes, this is the smaller one.
-Yes, I keep doing water changes daily to bring that down but yes, I still have between below .25 and at .50 at any given time. I will be putting my sponges that came with the Aquapod in today when I get home. They have been in the DT wet/dry for a day and a half now.
-I will put 3 cups (24 oz) of sand in the bottom of the QT.
-FYI, I have been feeding with Garlic and using mysis shrimp one day, and then flakes the next. Not sure which flakes, but it was the one my LFS said they feed all of theirs, they seem to be a reputable LFS, I think everyone in Tampa knows who they are, so I think it is good food, it is all one color, green.
-I don't mind loosing a piece of LR if you think it won't have enough dieoff to cause a spike, I have a piece that is about 2 1/2 lbs.
So this doesn't look like brooklynella, that is good. I have been keeping the lights off to try to reduce stress. Funny thing is his "mate/friend" and him were fine in the DT, actually they both would "butt" each other at differenct times.
Thank you again for taking the time to help me.

With brooklynella, you see a white film on the body, and the film will end up peeling off.
Try the sponge and the sand to see if that stabilizes the situation before taking any action with the rock. Are you using a refractometer?

Yes Ma'am, I am using one. the SG fluctuates .001 because of evaporation everyday between my daily topoffs. So would it be better to do 1.008 to 1.009 or 1.009 to 1.010? I check it before I leave for work, but usually it is 11 hours before I get home.
I see no film over all of him, and no peeling so thank goodness for this.
As for stress, I have put the sponges in, and the sand. I did another 10ga water change to bring the ammonia down to help the sand bacteria and the sponges.
if the ammonia doesn't stay down, even if it is just .25 to .5, should I not use Amquel???
Or will that hurt something
