well i have had my new MH lights for about a month now and i i increased my flow also. I started to get good coraline growth on my over flow and back wall and i didnt even have any rocks in my tank because i was doing hypo on my dt. im not sure if wat i have now is coral or some not so nice type of algea.
when i wentto put my rocks back in my tank today i must have rubbed again the back wall and the algea pealed off really easy. is this also coraline? it is redish in color but i dont think it is red slime unless im mistaken...???

if its slimey then its prob not caraline. Caraline is a hard algea so i would go ahead and scrape it off. But if its on the back wall and you dont mind it, algea isnt really bad, it just doesnt look all that good. In other words, if you dont mind it it does no harm.

you may be right, but we do havesome coraline, if i was to rub the mag float over the wall would my coraline come off since it is new and wasnt there last week?

If you run over it with the mag, coralline will not come off easy. The cyano and slime algae will. Even if you rub some off and it is coralline, you would be helping it to spread.

Not coralline. Sorry. Cyano. If you don't take care of it, it can go out of control and cause more trouble than if you just clean it off. Time will take its toll, and as long as you use RO water, cyano should deplete in a month or so. The flow increase will help a bunch also.

why do i keep getting this? i dont over feed at all. i have a fuge. i have good flow. if i scrape the slime off the walls and not take it out of the tank, will it spread or what? i dont want this stuff on my rocks since i just put them back in.
