Ok, I have a 75 gal, 4 months old and I am hoping to start adding some zoos, mushrooms and other soft corals in a couple months. I would also like to add some anenomes. Is this lighting ok for that:
Product Information:
Aqualight Retrofit Kit - Double Linear StripTwo 65 watt 10,000K and two 65 watt True Actinic 03 Blue straight pin base compact fluorescent lamps
Two on/off switches with two 12-foot lamp cords and two 6-foot power cords for separate timers
External compact fluorescent electronic ballast
Moisture-resistant endcaps
Highly-polished reflector
Installation hardware
Its only $190

That will work for most of your soft corals, but i wouldn't try an anemone because they need fairly strong lighting.Do you have a hood on your tank to mount this retro kit?

well i didnt mean to post that one actually...the other one has a hood included...
Why is that not enough even for small anenomes?
I though 3 per gal was enough for small ones?

The problem with PC lighting is it isn't as intense deeper in the water column as say a MH is,and most of your anemone's are usually deep in the tanks or at least mine are.You may want to look into a set of VHO's instead. You may be able to keep say a florida condi anemone with that lighting but something along the lines of a BTA i wouldn't suggest.

I had a Florida condi under that light set up and had no problems. In fact the poor thing was bleached pretty much completely white when I purchased him from a failing LFS and in the course of about a month began to take on the cream color more indicative of the species.
If the goal is to have a clown hosting with it, its not likely that adding this anemone to an existing tank with clowns, especially tank raised clowns will produce a bond. I have seen condie hosting though. Especially the tomato or maroon clowns. Best bet would be to find one at an LFS already hosting one of these species and buy them both.
The more light loving Indo Pacific ocean anemones on the other hand probably wont fair well under that lighting and IMO are not worth the bother anyways unless you are a die hard fan of anemones.

and i have heard of condi eating fish so i would just save yourself the headache and save till you can afford mh. I bought pc for my thirty ended up buying two which cost me 120 each so i could have corals. the mh pendant was 300. now im stuck with two pc that are the wrong size for any of my other tanks. one of them is on my 55 with the little flourecent hanging off the end so the whole tank is lit.

i disagree i have 260 watt pc on my 55 and it does awesome, ALLTHOUGH the anemone thing i will have to agree with because i tried a rock flower anemone , and it didnt work so i traded it back to the lfs but 260 watts even though its PC that still 4.6 watts a gallon and it penetrates fine
