Is this Diatom algae or Cyano???

I've had this problem for awhile and it seems to be getting worse. I just want to make sure I am diagnosing the problem correctly. This stuff is all over the glass and substrate ... what is it???

yeah i would say its diatoms too and pretty bad at that.....do you have a clean up crew at all? They would make short work out of that.

yeah, thats what I figured ... I have a small clean up crew but I also have been using tap water, which probably is the root cause ... thanks for the confirmation

I had the same thing last week and added clean-up crew which took care of nearly everything in 2 days! Since you already have some clean-up crew, can you add just a couple more large snails?
The turbo snails I got are about quarter-sized and they really rock and roll through the brown stuff which looked just like what you have. Just a newbie opinion (JANO)!
