malcite green seams to be the best for treating ich but i'm not an expert. it wont hurt corals or inverts like copper but you should read the direction very carfully to make sure that you have the right dosing. seach engines are great tools for info like this.

Malachite not only does not kill marine ich, but it is very harmful to corals and other inverts.

Hmm a few more questions. I've read some about refractometers but I dont know what kind or what brand to buy. How much could I expect to spend on a good refractometer?
Also, how long would it take the water to cycle in my QT if I use water from my DT? I didnt think it needed to cycle.

Google "refractometer". They run around $40. You will still have to cycle with display water. Biological bacteria does not live in the water column itself, it attaches to surfaces such as the sand, glass, filter media, etc. Use a few cups of sand from the display then add a raw shrimp to the tank. Cycle it in much the same way as you would any other tank. You can add a piece of rock to the tank, but it will have to be removed before you begin hypo.

if you dont want to go through all that hassel, you can feed it everyday with food that has garlic so it builds up its immune system and fights it off on its own, and that way, it will most likly never get ich again, since it won the war with it the first time. it worked for me over the years, so i would give it a shot, since moving it out of you DT will stress it even more.

The parasites will still be in the tank. Garlic does not kill ich by any means.

How did you prepare the foods with garlic? Did you use fresh garlic? I want to help my fish while my QT cycles.

If you are going to use garlic then it must be fresh. Beth has directions for preparing fresh garlic in her common treatments FAQ.
