I have a 29 bio cube with the stock light. but i was looking around and i found a 24" metal halide:
Product Specification
• Light fixture (Approx. 24“x 15“x 3“)
• Support: 1x 250W DE HQI, 2x 65W Compact Fluorescent, 4x Dual
Bluemoon LED
• Non corrosive powder coated aluminum housing
• External HQI Ballast
• Internal Compact Fluorescent Ballast
• Built-in Cooling Fan
• Tempered glass lens and acrylic lens
• Individual power cords and on/off switches
but my bio cube is 20" x 20 3/4" x 19 1/4".
can i put that light on? how can i make it fit?

i think 250 might be a little much for a 29 gallon. a 150 imo would be better. Who makes the fixture? If it had the orbit type legs then it will fit no problem if not then you may have to find a way to hang it.

the light will work, although it is a little extreme, you may be able to hang it from the ceiling. You probably don't want it to be right over the tank as it most likely will raise the temp of the tank. Lastly, if you go with this light you must be very careful to slowly light acclimate your tank to it, depending on what you already have in there.

well the light is from e-bay. its going for 189.00 i believe. i bought from this guy already and his lights are amazing.and it has 1x Set of Mounting Legs but i think they only raise it like 3"-4" high. which is not high enough i believe. i was planing to hang it atleast 7"-9" high.

well right now the water is still cycling. its been a week and my ph is at 8.0 and nitrate is at .10. everything else i havent check it since i lost the testing kit. i have a custom made refugium in my chamber 2. all it has inside is 10lbs of ls and 25lbs of lr that was taken out of my 30 fowlr tank. but what i plan to put in there is sps and lps and many different types of other corals.

my boy just got the same light fixture from the "bay" for his 29g. it will not fit a normal 29g so hanging it is the way to go. you will have to hang it alot more than 7-9inches... the lite is very brite and the actinics are extremely blue. i coached him into adding corals on the sand and slowly over a couple week period raise the corals to where he wants them placed. hope this helped some what...

no chiller, the tank is right next to the window. and we live next to the beach. nothing dif than you, but up here in jersey it gets cold especially around this time of year. he has his lites about 12-14 inches above the tank. we just redid his 29 about a week ago. i would wait alittle longer than a week, even though you mite get corals from someone or somewhere with the same light output or better, the fact you have such strong lighting over a smaller tank magnifies the intensity of the light... i would wait more like 2-3 weeks slowly move it the the proper placement that you want it...
