Is this lighting any good?

Hi
I am new to the whole fish thing but I am about to purchase a 5ft light fixture hood.. It has:
2 X 400 Watt Metal Halide
4 X 65 Watt Power Compact Combo
My question is, is the metal halide too strong? Someone told me to get 2 X 250 but I thought the more light the better?

the wattage u use for MH depends on how deep ur aquarium is? what is the depth of your aquarium, also what corals do u plan to keep?
