Is this normal during hypo?

I cycled a ten gallon QT and bought a sixline wrasse. I gave him a 50 minute long formalin bath with no problem and then put him in. He was a little skittish at first, hiding in crevices but eventually started swimming around in the open. He ate the next morning and seemed fine.
I then got a refractometer and slowly dropped the SG to 1.009.
Now the wrasse is constantly hiding, wedged between my foam filter and the glass. Is this normal during hypo? I'm worried that the hypo might be doing him more harm than good. It's supposed to just be preventative since he seemed to be extremely healthy. I'm thinking of raising the salinity back up slowly and just watch him for the remaining QT period.
I bought some reference solution for my refractometer so I'm pretty sure that it's calibrated correctly. What's going on? Do I need to just give him more time to get used to the salinity?

i have a sixline in a QT now...he is currently sleeping...wedged himself underneath the PVC pipe and 1/2" sand bottom.
When I took him out of my main tank, he was a pain...so I was removing all the rock...pulled one rock out and he had stuck himself inside a tiny hole...his body was all curled up to fit inside it....
So no...I dont think it has anything to do with being QT, formalin, or even hypo....sixlines are just like that.

I was thinking that but he had been active for days and now isn't. He was ok at 1.014 salinity and when I did the final drop to 1.009 he hid all day which was the cause for my concern.
I guess I'll chill out and hope he acts normally tomorrow. I'll feel real dumb though if I end up killing him with hypo despite the fact that he looked healthy.

Do you have light on the tank? As soon as I dim my light, he goes and hides out. He only comes out when the light is on full blast.

Its not hypo, its jus the normal behavior for a wrasse.
Is he eating fine? How does he look? What is the pH?? Did you maintain adequate pH with the hypo saline water? As water becomes more fresh, pH drops.

The lights on my QT completely cover the top and get pretty hot which is why I turned them off. I thought the room lights would provide enough light to make him think it was daytime.
I added a little buffer, turned the lights back on and did a minor water change. One of these things seem to have worked since he's back to his normal self again. Thanks all!

Great...my Sixline is best friends with my Tang now. They tag team my Scorpion Blenny and nip at him :(. Poor little blenny! I bought him some more cover today and to annoy the other fish, I'm feeding him krill on a stick :).
I'm actually feeding him krill on a stick on purpose. Its hard enough to get food down to him in the normal tank since the blenny is a bottom fish...and I didnt want food building up on the bottom if he or any of the other fish missed it...so Im now putting in less flake food/brine...and feeding my blenny Krill on a stick. This way all the flake and brine is defintely getting eatten.
