Is this normal for a Niger?

Sometimes my Niger Trigger goes into hiding and doesn't come out for hours. Like the other day, I couldn't find him anywhere. I looked around, I looked on the floor, behind the tank, in the overflows, the sump, just couldn't find him. So I gave up, then a few hours later, there he is acting normal. He's done this a number of times now. Otherwise acting normal, eating, being his usual mean trigger self.
Sometimes the humu chases him a little but not bad. Just chases him out of the way then minds his own business. Anyone with a niger had this hiding thing happen?

Yes, normal....My Niger/Redtooth I don't even bother to look for when the lights are off, I have not a clue where he sleeps, he comes out about an hour or 2 before the lights come on (3:00 pm for me) and stays out until the lights go off (11:00pm), other than that, no idea where he is. I don't worry about him though, this is my second Redtooth, they are hardy and nothing seems to bother them once they are established. I had a Huma with Redtooth in my previous tank, they never bothered each other, the RT eventually was much more aggressive.

Very normal occurence. Nothing to worry about. It is when people start tearing their tank apart that they have problems.

Thanks, I feel a little better now, even though he still hasn't come out yet and usually he's out at around 9am every day. He even missed feeding time.

Finally came out at around 5pm. I don't know what was up with him today? He even missed feeding time and now is in a bad mood and is chasing my other fish around.

I got the niger, a humu, a little queen angel, foxface, yellow wrasse and a powder blue tang. The only one the niger fears is the humu.

Yup, agreed, this is normal. However, mine has NEVER missed feeding time. Well, he did once, and then made up for it by snacking on my finger! He definitely got fed after that!
