Is this normal for a volitan lion?

Well out of all the lions I have had, this lion i have now seems down in the dumps. He's always laying on the sand. Right now he's laying on the sand staring at a rock, he's been doing this for quite some time now. But when I come to the glass he comes right to me and when i go away he goes back to lay down on the sand.

Note: He doesn't sleep in a cave......just right out in the open. So do you all think this is normal?

Yes I believe it's normal, they tend to stay in one spot looking for prey to swim by. When you come to the tank it thinks it's feeding time, so out he comes. This is why I will never own another Volitan, evey one I've owned did this. They tend to get boring as hell after a while, Such a beautiful fish, but if it just sits there you can't enjoy it, My $.02

Thats odd. All my other lions never did it, then again every fish is not the same.
