my shrimp shed (molted) not even a month ago. I just about 2 minutes ago turned on the lights to my tank and apparently he had shed again last night. is it normal for him to shed twice in less then a month??

Normal...Some go months at the time, but I had one that molted about every other week for several months.

I have read several theories on this, from...this is due to them not liking your water conditions, to...they are growing (a good sign), but I tend to believe the latter. I have not found any negative results from the excessive molting.
But it still freaks you out for just a second each time you see a molt laying around

haha yeah! I live in Maine in a fishing town, and have lobstered before, so i know about shedding and all, but yeah it freaks me out when it happens in my tank! my water condition is fine, so im assuming he's growing

he's wicked vibrant now though!

When I first got mine it was tiny and it seemed like it molted every week. Now it's calmed down, and I think it molts around every 3 weeks. No signs of stress or anything. Its perfectly healthy and grabs piece of food every time I feed the tank.

You might want to tell us what species of shrimp you are talking about.

Agree...it depends on the type of shrimp. Do you have a cleaner shrimp, peppermint, what

I have no idea what statistics say, but from my experience, most cleaner shrimp average from 2" - 2 1/2", but I have seen some in fish store display tanks that were closer to 3" or better.
