What is a poly pad and what kind of reaction would I be looking for?
The Krylon people don't want any reponsibility for a saltwater tank of sea horses, I can't blame them there. As for flaking...that happens to even the decor you buy in the store for fish tanks, salt or fresh, the paint wares off. I was thinking about repainting one of the pieces, it's nearly white.
Nobody said a thing about curing 30 days or any days...I painted my PVC and the next morning when it was dry, I put in in the tank...LOL...the sea horses hitch on it all the time and they are fine, so were the soft corals and mushrooms, the fan worms and snails...oh and all five of the peppermint shrimp. It didn't bother the macros that's for sure.
I think I'm going to just do it and see, nothing is in the tank but the live rock....I think once it's dry it is non-toxic, doesn't that mean a kid can eat it?
I think poly pads pretty much just catch heavy metal and soak up organics. I'd let the paint cure for about 7 days and then let the clear coat cure for 7 days. But I'd do at least 3 coats of the clear to protect and cover that paint real good since I haven't seen it used in aquariums before.
Do you have a kid around that you can test it out on?
