My canister filter is pushing out 10 times the flow and i was woundering can i take the return line that is a hose right now and change it to pipes or something so that i can create 2 return areas (one at each corner of my tank to optimise the flow...can this be done?

Yep if you have the right fittings..you can use tubeing/hose too..Each return will ofcouse have only about half the presure of the one.

i understand that and that is what im looking for b/c i want to get rid of the powerhead that is in my tank and create 2 powerheads out of my return from my canister...
...the canister filter is rated at 264 in a 26 gal tank broken into 2 that would probably be perfect...
...so what do i need to look for in fittings?

if i do this... i have a bow front tank and i trying to think of what would be the ideal position for 2 ends...i figured each of them in each corner but should one be lower in the tank than the other ... any suggestions?

IMO keep them high near the corners aimed a little toward the center so they make as much of the top of the water ripple some plus you dont see so much pluming inside the tank. yucky.

so you think if i place the two of them in opposite corners and somewhat higher and then position them to met in the center of my bow (as best as possible)
..what about the lower end of the tank will that still get alot of movment?

Not meet but center of half. the flow will go across the top, down the front and roll back and thru the rock on the way back up and to where ever the out tube is.

...i found all of the pieces at home depot and was going to buy them but i passed for the moment...will buy in a few days but i had a question...
...the worker helped me with everything and it looked as if it would work great but i was wondering about the T fitting - and the connectors i was going to get with it...
...if the T fitting slims down to an opening of lets guess and say 1/4 in in diameter and my tubing is 5/8th will this hurt my flow? will this cause problums with the flow going from 5/8 tube to 1/4 T fitting flow and then back to 5/8 flow?
