Cyanobacteria hates oxygen rich environments...make sure you have good water flow throughout the tank. Cyanobacteria is basically pond scum...grows in ponds etc because there is no water movement. improper lighting and/or direct sunlight from a window can also be a factor.
my advice anyway for what it's worth.

I got red slime. Someone told me to get most of it with my hand then get more current in that area or the whole tank so it cant stick and grow. I also used all the light tricks and less feeding too. Its good to get it out early. My tank is fine now and im back to normal feeding and light. I let one go in another tank... It took over and I had to start over.
