The red items I don't use. I don't have much experience with sump tanks, although I'd like to try one some day, after I talk my hubby into the 300 gallon tank
. I use a much simpler filtration system.
The tank load/occupants sounds great
I wish I could talk my husband to let me upgrade to a 150 gallon!!!
My first reaction to removing filter matter would ensue disater in my tank. The water quality in my tank depends on them because I don't use skimmers and other fancy equipment. I have tried skimmers but found them usless, but I would not recomend these actions to a newbie.
And the other thought that occured to me is: the larger the tank you have, the easier it is to maintain water quality levels.
Being that I have dubbed myself the black sheep of the SWF Forum...I'll try just about anything to find out if it works or not....given I always consider the safety of my tank occupants. So I'd try it....just keep a close eye on your tank. If the water quality takes a nose dive within the first 2-4 days....you will have your answer.
