So it seems like something took a chunk out of my mandarins’ gill(white spot in center of pic) she does not seem to be in any distress and there does not seem to be any infection, so I will keep her in the DT and monitor her.
I remember them being MEAN......
Lois I am leaning toward the mandarin getting to close to the pistol shrimp. I don’t believe it was the RG or any other fish for that matter because I believe as do many others that the slime coat of a mandarin is toxic. This toxic coat keeps this slow moving fish from being eaten by the many predators on the reef

AHHHHH...didn't realize you had one.....or I didn't pay attention....LOL
probably right on that then
I remember them being MEAN......
While Joe is right about the toxic bad tasting slime coat.....this was the first thought that crossed my mind as well. Because with Joe's luck.....the RG who finally decides to make permanent residence would have to be a tank-terror.
Hope the Mandarin heals up, man...... fingers crossed.
