Anyone know the best area to snorkle in Jamaica? Will be going in October.

beautiful. great place. dont know the best place, but you will enjoy it so much. i wish it were me going agian.

if you are going in oct. you have plenty of time to get certified to dive, that is if you want to. I have never been to jamaica, but do know there is alot world class diving there. With alot of the caribbean islands the healthiest reefs are in 50 to 80 ft which are kinda out of range for snorkling but with good vis it would be doable.

Sounds like fun. I have only snorkeled in Mexico and Puerto Rico. If you were going to PR, I could tell you a few really cool places.

On a more serious note, I just came back from there two weeks ago. I personally did not go out but a few people I met down there did. About 30 feet out they said they saw sting rays, puffer fish and some other colorful fish.
Not sure if you have been to Jamaica but it is often advised not to leave the resort unless it is a resort planned trip. The bus ride to my resort was all I had to see to not leave the resort.

On a more serious note, I just came back from there two weeks ago. I personally did not go out but a few people I met down there did. About 30 feet out they said they saw sting rays, puffer fish and some other colorful fish.
Not sure if you have been to Jamaica but it is often advised not to leave the resort unless it is a resort planned trip. The bus ride to my resort was all I had to see to not leave the resort.

Exactly. The first thing they told us at the resort was not to leave unless we were w/them.
The next thing the lady said was "So, how many goats did you hit on the way here"?

I've snorkled at Sandals resort in Negril...i only went once out in the ocean with the group an didn't enjoy it all that much because of not being used to the fins and getting the underwater camera how i wanted it, and dodge all the other people floatin around...but it was still pretty sweet to see everything....but I have no idea if that would be "the best". I really just enjoyed snorkeling off shore so I could be on my own and still saw some cool fish and eels.

That is funny. We landed in Montego Bay and it was unreal driving to the resort. You see huge beautiful homes up high in the mountains and at the bottom you see people living in shacks.

I kind of regret not going to Negril to see the water falls. On the flight down my wife sat next to a couple that owned a home in Negril. They said once you go there you will never want to go anywhere else.

This is my second trip to Jamaica. Last time stayed near ocho rios and they took us out in a boat. It was great! They could have left me there all day, but it was only a 1 hour trip. This time will be staying on Runaway Bay at a Breezes resort. I thought I'd heard this was a good snorkeling spot and also Dr.'s Cave Beach. Anyone heard of either of those?
