Agreed. Not sure what the point of dosing what are undoubtedly expensive chemicals into a tank with practically no corals to consume them.
Its the reason not only for your algae, but also for your extremely high amounts of skimmate (sp?) you're getting each week. The chemicals aren't being used, and are getting sucked straight out of the water in mass quantities by the skimmer.
Also, would like to say that the 2 tangs look amazing, especially the powder blue. Thats one of the most colorful ones I've seen in a long while.

Hey, to each his own. More power to ya, Jason.
Personally, I don't add anything more than a few capfuls of Seachem Reef Complete every week.
....oh btw, if I hung a dosing container from the ceiling, my wife would probably hang me on a meat hook right next to it.

Wow. Ive never seen any one with all that equipment that must of cost you a fortune. I think you might be trying to perfect every little thing. You dont even have a high population of coral and you are adding to many nutrients. I think that is whats causing your algea problems. With all that equpiment I would expect to see the best tank ever. I guess its not what you buy. Looks like you just have a spending problem.
Ebob954, well to be honest that is not alot of equipment in my mind. I am also trying to perfect every aspect since their is always room for improvement. However, I think your idea concerning excess nutrients being the source of my algae problem is incorrect since my algae problem has been improving with the use of Prodibio supplements. But your definitely correct about one thing I do have a spending problem but my wife and family enjoy it thouroghly.

King_nothing, I would like to say that Prodibio is not just meant for Corals alone, it is also meant for fish as well. Prodibio supplements are aim at covering two very important aspects, improving water quality by stimulating the beneficial bacteria within the water column and providing the appropriate amounts of trace elements, chemicals and food to Corals. So I can agree with you on half of your statement that I am just dumping excess trace elements and chemicals, but as you can see from the photographs of my fish and clam, Prodibio actually is working. I only have an algae problem with I can attribute to over feeding and excess phosphates and the need for more flow and a cleanup crew but that is being addressed. Also thank you for the compliments on my Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus Leucosternon).

Pbnj, thank you for the support. My wife is a good woman when it comes to allowing anything that is beneificial for our pets. We have a dog, the aquarium, a frog, and two chameleons so we definitely have a little zoo going on.

17cuddlefish, thank you for the compliment on my aquarium. I'm just trying to do everything right and improve upon things that can be done more efficiently while providing the best quality for my fish.

Coralreefer, I love my vortech. It's controllable speed, wide flow and small form factor definitely make it well worth its price.

Food: Ocean Nutrition Varied Algae Sheet Diet (Tang Care Package)
Well they say a varied diet is the best thing for your aquarium livstock so I decided to treat my Tangs to a little care package containing Ocean Nutrition Red Marine Algae with added Garlic, Ocean Nurtition Brown Marine Algae, Seawee Salad Green Marine Algae, Ocean Nutrition Algae Clips and Ocean Nutrition Algae Clip with Grid. This allows me to provide them with all the types of algae sheets simultaneously and also frozen foods. I think this will make them pretty happy.

Str8salt, it's okay. The reptile belongs to my wife. They are Veiled Chameleons.
