Hee Hee, hope you never have to move from that apartment. Your gonna need a crane to move that stand! Nice job!!!
Spanko, thank you for the compliment on my aquarium stand. When I move from this apartment it's going to be in a house and then comes the 500 gallon aquarium.

I thought you're not supposed to keep chillers inside cabinets?
Pbnj, in most cases your not since the stand are usually enclosed and their isn't adequate ventilation and air circulation. However, my aquarium stand actually has a 5 Inch gap toward the rear which so far has been allowing all the heat to exit from the rear. The whole back of my stand is completely exposed. I will be installing some fans in the future to force air in and out of the stant but right now it's not necessary.

I dont know man. Sometimes throwing money at something isnt the answer. Research is definately a big help. I like the motiveation though. I know that a reefer is not supposed to ask an other reefer this, but how much did you spend on this so far?
ZooCraze, I know it looks as though I'm just trying to get over good old fashion husbandry but honestly I'm not. I do my research and I also know why things get out of hand but with new equipment and products comes the normal trial and error when configuring it to my aquarium. Hopefully everything will start to clear up. As far as putting a dollar sign on the aquarium and equipment honestly I lost count. Also saves me when my wife ask how much I spend. LOL

Well It's that time of the year were I go ahead and ask all my friends, family, and co-workers to sponsor my son's team "Jayson Michael" for the March of Dimes "March for Babies Walk". My wife first started having complications in the first trimester of her pregnancy and if it weren't for the research of the the March of Dime, I may not have had a chance to meet my son Jayson. Jason was born 6 weeks premature and is now living a wonderful healthy life that I am grateful for every day.
I have included a link to my personal March of Dimes webpage where donations can be made. I understand that these are difficult times with the economic regression but even the smallest donation will help fund research that has the potential to save a babies life. I you so choose please feel free to foward the link to anyone who you think would like to donate. Thank you in advance for any donations.

Wow that red slime in discusting. I think this hobby is more about researching and reading. Then going out and trying to find the most expensive equipment. By the looks of it its not really working. You should have alot more coraline algea on your rocks you deffintly shouldnt have red slime algea. The best way to run a succesful reef tank is by doing weekly water changes and adding the least amout of additves.

I mean I dont see any coral and you are dosing your tank with some expensive stuff. Its just forming into algea blooms. There isnt enough living bio load to take in all those supplements. I see a clam thats it.

Is that a dosing drip also? I mean what do you need that for. Your running a tank with just two fish and a clam and some live rock. If you tank was full of sps corals I would suggest that. Im sorry im just trying to help.

i going to have to agree on this one....it seems you are dosing so many things...Why? Im sure your going to have a sick ass tank in time but in the mean time why not just try water changes and back off all the dosing of chemicals

good work on the tank. You seem like you understand the natural processes involved and make yourequipment selections according to what you feel are necessary for the tank which I applaud instead of just buying something a store tells you without understanding the purpose. The issue of how much is spent and on what is purely your decision and as long as you are fine with it so should everyone else. I also applaud the effort to simplify maintenace tasks through advanced aquarium technology. It definately allows you to still enjoy other aspects of life like children whenyou don't have to spend hours and hours testing, cleaning, dosing, etc.... I would be right there with you if I had a tank of that size.
