Hi I am starting a 40 gallon reef tank that right now I have a false perc clown and a yellow watchman goby and a firefish. I would love to get a pearl jawfish but was wondering if the goby would attack him? any suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks
Matt

there's a possibility that it might, but it should be ok because the pearly jawfish spends most of it's time in it's cave it makes. it's something you will have to test out i think.

I have both. It's kind of an interesting scenario. I had the yellow watchman first and bought the pearly jawfish later. The yellow watchman found little caves to hide in until the jawfish came into the aquarium. Now, the jawfish will build a cave and, within a day, the watchman goby will move into it. The jawfish won't leave for a day or two and both will share the jawfish's little cave. Ultimately, the jawfish will get tired of sharing his den and will go elsewhere and make a new one, but, the goby finds him and moves in with him. I have little holes and caves all around my take and they move every couple of days, following that same process. In my experience, they aren't dangerous to each other, but the watchman goby is an annoyance to the jawfish.

does your jawfish dig in the sand, really deep?
cause i bought one last week and put him in my qt. i havent seen him since the first day! not even to get food. i have about 1" + argalyte sand , some pvc pipe elbows and slate rock for terrotories in the 10g qt. i know they are supposedly jumpers, but the top is pretty well covered, and have not seen a body or anything like that outside of it.

you'd be surprised how deep sometimes. one of my friends had one and it had 3 entrances to the same cave. each entrance a good 6-10 inches away from eachother too.

Just a friendly reminder --- Make sure your Tank tops are WELL COVERED!!!
Lost a diamond GOBY very recently and I researched about the pearly jawfish - just got one.
My Tanks are covered!!!!!!!! Interesting how the yellow watchman sorta thinks he found a friend! But it's nice to know that your particular Jawfish didn't hurt it! aka - get into a fight!
