Hi, well today I got 2 yellowhead(pearly) jawfish. Once they were let loose from the bag they went straight down to the bottom and begin to make a hide between some rocks. I caught 1 of the damsels, 2 to go.I disturbed my live rock and im kinda afraid if that would create die off? Will it? Any suggestions, tips on keeping jawfish?

Jaw fish pretty much keep to them selfs.not much to do to keep them. You can't hurt the rock by moving it around. I dust mine off about every week with a paint brush and that doesnt hurt it. Some people say to pick it up and shake it off once and awhile to release the critters into the substrate.Just be sure to stack it carefully so it doesnt fall on one of your favorite fish.STEVE

3 inches of argonite sand. They are having fu nso far. In the last 2 hours or so they have already made their major tunnel, and are popping up and down. Their tunnel is set in between live rock . Do you know how to --- them? Im wondering if mine are a pair...hmmm

Umm I think your tlaking about Firefish. Jawfish live in on the bottom....and dig tunnels in sand and stuff.
Firefish are the jumpers...

Ok, here's my 2cents...which if you don't follow, you will very likely have an unhappy end-story with your jawfish.
Jawfish, are olumpic jumpers! When you least expect it...[usually when the lights are out] they will find whatever tiny little crevis there is to get out of the tank and jump through it, out into the big bad world...and to their deaths. No crevis opening is too small for them to find and get thru, so make sure that you have a good lid covering your tank!

I had an awsome jawfish(Casper) until the other day, he was perfectly fine, and then for no reason at all he just jumped out of a 2" hole during the night

I rest my case......if there is any way to get out of the tank, the jawfish will find it once the lights go out

Well thank you for the information. I din't know that they jumped. I've always heard reports of firefish jumping. But I have closed some of the "open area". Also my damsel keeps them in there burrows....
heheh
One is totally scared to even pop its head out. The larger one protects it tho, and it is quite funny to watch him strecth his moutch to the farest he can. I think I may have a male/female pair of jawfish. One is large and protects the smaller one. The smaller digs the burrows. I've also noticed them doing a circle around each other, not sure if this is mating or just play. Anyone know?

Careful with too much agression from the damsels...these fish must eat too! And they can't do that if they can't get to the food.
I had this exact problem myself with my last jawfish, and ended up "hand feeding" the thing....or trying to. This fish ended up dying from too much agression in the tank. You will usually see these fish in quiet invert tanks where they are fairly much by themselves, just because they are so timid.
