Just wanted to know what y'all think about Jebo light fixtures? Found a 36 inch that will fit my 30 gal. Its a 36" quad flourescent with 2 cooling fans,2 switches ,one for the daylight and actenic,,and one for the moon lights. and I can get it for 70 bucks.

I had their 1st gen light 48" pc, No fans one cord 2 switches, In my option pretty cheesey. This was about 2 years ago, I just picked up another 48"pc light (sold other one). This one has 2 fans 3 cords, 3 switches, and is far surperior to the one I had before. The fan is a bit noisy, other than that I haven't had any problems, I did find by switching the blue lights for 03 actinics I got a much better color. As they aren't true actinics.
Steveyour lights found here

yote, I agree with what excalibur said. I have the 48" Jebos on a freshwater tank. be sure the one you get has 2 cords for the 2 switches or it will defeat the whole purpose as far as timers go. also, I paid $70 for the 48" unit, so $70 for the 36" may be a little much.

JEBO is not the best brand of lights. Kind of cheaply made, and on other forums they certainly do not get very good reviews by any means. I do not remember exactluy how someone put it, but it was like there is cheaply made china junk, and then there is the below the basement quality grade JEBO made anything. Just when yu think there is no possible way to make the item cheaper, it seems Jebo can figure out another way to yet make it a lot cheaper. POint in mind is their CPR backpak clone skimmer. Its made of a plastic that is only 1/3 as thick, its mostly injection molded, and the plastic plumbing pieces are basically paper thin plastic trash....The skimmers are prone to crazing and cracking at a very early stage......Same for the lights. Their hoods or striplights are not really sealed in the seams of the metal and are prone to rusting, the metal is extremely soft, and the electronic ballasts etc are just plain Cheaply made.

well, there is no question that 'you get what you pay for'. however, for $70, the JEBOs aren't bad. mine is on my freshwater and I've had no problem. I've also had the same wattage Corallife version, and a GE version put out by All Glass, and the JEBO is no more cheaply made than those two.
I HAVE heard complaints from people about JEBO before, but in my own experience, no problems. you'll have to buy actinics though, like someone else said, because the ones that come with the unit are not true actinics.

I only saw products from "Odysea" from that link that Excalibur posted.
Is that a subproduct from Jebo, or a completely separate company? Whatever it is, the prices on the "Odysea" stuff doesn't seem bad either.

This is the 260watt 48" setup. Been having for 6months and for the 89 bucks I spent well worth it

There is a saying....
"Jebo is junk..."
They are China patent rip offs, and not very good ones at that...
My understanding is that they have NO warranty and NO instructions and NO manufacturer information. They come with NO paperwork...
The lights are not as bright as the others and the fans are louder than the others.
One guys house even caught on FIRE because of the Jebo light - but hey, he saved a few bucks...

Agree, Have had other expensive lights before and bought a 48 inch for my new 55. Dont see any difference in quality or "amount of light" - the only difference about 150 bucks, I'll spend that on some live rock and fish, Thanks. Overall it looks like the first gen. had its problems, but the newer ones - ROCK for the price. Enjoy.

Jebo is not a name brand. Name brand equals excellent quality, right? Name brands don’t always mean good, it just means more money. Just because a product is new and expensive don’t always mean it will work flawlessly , it just means it shinny and expensive.
If any one is that nervous or concerned about the use of “jebo” they can always call consumer product hotline and get any info on jebo/odyess. My friends got the Mh set up, yeah the ballast is a bit big (I call the ballast the pc tower for lights) and if your that concerned about out put, one can get a light meter and test the k value on it. Jebo has to be of some what good quality, being that my friends an electrician and he’s was in and out of that set up checking out everything and he’s fine with it and loves it. Imo he got a better deal on his MH then I did, but call me a snob I love my coralife Mh.

I was under the impression that they didn't have any manufacturer information, much less a consumer product hotline...?
I am not trying to be a snob, and do not at all want to come off that way.

I think its just nice for people to give their unbiased opinion on equipment. I wish I had someone to tell me what stuff was cheaply made when I started - would have saved me a lot of time and money from the start...

I am glad to see that those who have bought the product enjoy it though.

I bought the 192w Odyssea fixture and it has worked flawlessly and the fans are very quiet....it's not very old(couple/few months) but I am very happy with it so far with the exception of the 10K spectrum bulb that came with it...I will replace it with a 12k or 14k when it's necessary to replace it....
The "guy" whos house caught fire could have been an electrical nightmare a side from the light and not been protected....we don't know.....
I would say go with it you will be happy...

i mean..honestly of all the hundreds or even thousands of these units they sell how many caught on fire? it doesn't matter if its odysea/jebo or hamilton or coralife im sure they have had some ballasts that have shorted out and caught fire over the years. im just saying that accident "might not have been" all of odysea's fault.

I have th 260 wat pc , and it is amazing. had it know for a year with no troubles. havent even replaced bulbs yet. the fans make a very small whining noise when it first comes on in the morning for like 5 minutes. I am getting ready to order the new 785 wattt 72 inch mh for my new 150, and would,'t even consider another brand. there may be better lights out there but for a little less than half the money, they can't be touched in my opinion...Go ahead and get you one
