My box didnt have anything about them. I ordered one of the plain ones "without the moon lights and got this one" so the guy I ordered from didnt know what type it takes. So I dont have any clue.

I'd ask some of the experts around here...
I'm trying to learn more about lights before I upgrade mine and stock my tank. From what I have learned, however, wattage is not all you have to consider. Part of the problem you also have to think about is how well that the light can penetrate the water.

yea i got the same lights and the actinic is fake. they're ok for now but should be replaced. i got the new actinics for about 40 bucks with shipping. u mite wanna think metal halides i got mine on

[hr]
for $190 with bulbs. then i built a canopy for 40bucks. i had a 130w pc retro kit. but i got that on

[hr]
for 65 bucks. thats $295 or u could get mh only with 20k bulbs for $200. it will still be better than, 100 for pc and 80 for new actinics. so its only 20 bucks more, so u mite wanna think before u buy. always try to buy things u can reuse or upgrade. i got the 220w and retro fit it in the canopy , so i have 2x175w mh and 2x65 retro kit and 2x55 jebo. so im at 10.7 wpg on my 55gal. for about $345. but it wasnt at once over time.

Again though.. wattage does not neccesarily = water penetration power.
like I said though, ask the experts here. I'm trying to learn all this lighting stuff myself.

If you had two 220 watt units you could probly keep some sps but no clams. The only reason im saying this is SPS can be anywere in the tank on the bottom or on top but clams have to be on bottom and they wouldnt get enough light. The only way I have SPS is if I placed them right under the lights and even then I would search for some that arent as light dependent as the others. That may be hard to do since that is what SPS are known for. If you asked me I wouldnt do it I would just do a softie tank. I was gonna do this same thing on my tank but I learned quick there isnt mutch room up there for that to happen.
