Has anyone tried a jellyfish in thier tank? If so is there anything special that needs to be done and can they be housed with other fish?

Jellyfish need very specialized tanks to their very delicate nature. As a matter of fact, jellyfish keeping in the home aquaria is not advisable. They are best left in the wild.

Some experts kept a Box Jellyfish in a swimming pool... it was a very specialized habitat, but I don't know if you have the same resources they did.

Here are two photos of my jellyfish...... :jumping: So beautiful they are but not in my tank. These beauties I took pictures of in Waikiki at their aquarium we were just at. They were in very tall cylinder type tanks and what an a amazing dispaly they have of them.

Isnt that one of the most deadly jellyfish there are? Kinda reminds me of that guy who wanted to keep a blue ring octopus....

Here is a pic of a jellyfish I took in Las Vegs at the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef. they have a large cylinder tank filled with jellyfish. I don't remember the name but this kind is the most lethal jellyfish in the world.

We had a client whom insisted on a jelly tank for her bedroom. I had not looked into this before so we did the research. It is possible to keep a few different species but it takes some serious money. I found a company that specializes in jelly tanks and I can tell you for a 30gal system (tank and jets alone) it runs about $3000.00. You can find it for less but this company IMO was the most knowledgeable and had the best set up. The main problem with jelly’s that are acceptable for the home is they can not bump into anything. NigerBang was exactly correct. With lots of research and money, you can have a stunning display of jelly’s for your home. With that being said, IMO to keep an Iracongi, Box, or any other animal that has the potential to kill you or anybody that may come into contact with it is ridiculous. It’s like somebody that is deathly allergic to bees becoming a bee keeper. It is just beyond my reasoning.

you have to remember when things are labeled the most deadliest. Sometimes it's labeled that because of how fast it can kill someone or something and others are labeled as so because of how many have been recorded being killed by them. keep that in mind. ;)
