great looking tank!
I have the same JBJ 28g, question is...
What does your lighting setup look like?
Is it stock with the hood closed?
Is it raised to allow airflow?
And how long do you have your lights on at a time?
Ive had mine going for about 2 months but im sure my temp fluctuation isnt doing my fish any good.
I go with lights on for 6 hours and see a 4 degree increase in temp in those 6 hours.

I only have the 24G wish I had the extra 4G...(more like 1.5G useable lol) As you can see I have the sunpod 20in fixture on it, it is a raised fixture, with fans blowing across the top of the water. I go from 77.3 deg to 78.0 deg all day long. Some how look at displacing some of that heat through venting it out! If you have to crack it a bit, to allow it to rid its self of the heat, because 4 degree tem fluctuation ISNT GOOD.... Especially when you can prevent it! Look at surface fans to help displace some of the stagnate heat.

Lol not sure exactly what you are looking for, but here is a run down... kinda.
First chamber... filter sponge, Chemipure Elite, rubble rock
Second chamber.... Rubble rock, cheato (backing pealed off to expose for lighting), and heater
Third chamber..... bio cube nano skimmer, maxi jet 1200 for return
Main tank.... Spliter for return to make it go two diffrent ways, Nano Korila and no name brand pumps for water movement movement (attached to a red sea wavemaker pro (just barley picked it up... getting new pumps soon))
Above tank..... 150 W Sun Pod 20" fixture, and a suplemental attenic system I have behind it (unknown brand name).....
The tank its self is a JBJ 24G.... With one of their stands....
