Joes Juice Is The Best!!!!! Aiptasia anybody?

I recently bought a piece of coral on the bay of e that was sent to me with a large aiptasia on it which quickly spread to 4-- 1 about the size of a quarter, 1 the size of a dime and 2 a fourth the size of a dime. I have read in books adn here that trying to pullthem off or cut them off is a futile effort, and I have also heard that boiling water, lemon juice, vinegar and the like are kind of pointless too. So I did nothing and they spread faster than I ever thought they would. I bought some Joes Juice yesterday, adn used it today. I watched all of the aiptasia die within minutes.
It is definitely the coolest thing I have seen die in my tank. It is also REEF SAFE!! If anybody is having problems with these pests, Joes Juice is only 8 bucks, and works so fast it make you crap. Just thought I would share, and invite anyone else to tell their stories.
Thanks Joe!

Nice, I was thinking of doing the same, but i want to conserve my pod population. At the same time, Natural warfare is often the best for our small biotopes. Congrats.

Well, I kept my $8 and just used boiling water, squirted it right on the sucker and it died instantly.
Glad your problem is solved though.

The way I did it is took the rock out that had the aptasia had it sitting in a bowl (with water as my GSP was also on the rock). I then boiled water (RO water) and when it was at it's full boil I sucked some water up using a syringe (right out of the pan) and squirted the aptasia. On the first squirt it was shrinking back, I did it several times just to make sure. No more aptasia.

from what i've read joes juice is nothing more than kalkwasser in a bottle. it didn't seem to work very well for me. I'm now using Blue Life Aiptasia Control, which may even be the exact same thing as joes juice....but seems to work better. next for me are some peppermint shrimp.

Ok I have tried Joe's Juice, Kalk. Paste, calcium dissolving in RO, and boiling water!
Still have 'em. I am now QTing each rock and trying to treat them with out killing the other living things like brittle stars and mushrooms. Only result I have gotten is red slime where I use the Joe's Juice. And yes the aptasia seems to shrivel up and die but pop next day they are there just laughing at me. Oh yeah tried putting a little rock on them so they release and I can scoop it out. That works but come on there has to be a better way!
Oh I have a bicolor psudochrome so peppermint shrimp are out of the question.

if your qt'ing the rock is it possible to put some peppermint shrimp in with the rock. Blue Life Aiptasia Control, seems to be doing good for me.

I believe joes juice is lemon juice. Lemon juice is an acid. Kalkwasser is a strong base. I've used Kents liquid calcium to kill my aiptasias and it has worked so far.
IMO i think that adding a base to a basic system is safer than an acid. Im sure that an acid would have a greader effect on killing the aiptasia, but if their are other corals near the pest i believe that calcium is better than boiling water or joes juice.

Just be careful... The stuff works great but I took out half my colony of zoos where the aptasia was growing. Seems to kill those pretty easily.

I've always had great luck with boiling water. I think those that fail with boiling water fail in the technique. Glad Joe hooked you up though!

My LFS (salt only) told me to get a Copperband or Remora, don't feed it, it will eat all the AIP, then trade it back. I've got 100+ lbs of LR infested with AIP (was in a 90g set-up I just bought.)
I've killed some of it, using Joe's. All the rock is in a bucket next to my desk, so I am getting them, one by one, as they pop out. I want all of it gone before I move my corals/fish/inverts to their new home!

For those that used Joes Juice and it didnt work... wow... that sucks, its always worked for me... but just a little too well ... I just killed a bunch a few days ago but a month or two ago I got an aptasia by my red mushrooms... this is the result within minutes of that red mushroom...
its alrigth now... it actually made like 4 other small ones around it... but i was gonna be mad if it was to actually kill my red shroom... love red shrooms.
