I've heard rest of the band used to walk off stage for 20 minutes or so and just let bonham play a ridiculously long drum solo.. go smoke, talk... take their time and come back

Yes i agree with everyone about neil peart being a great drummer. he is. but he has a double bass and 50 different drums. All he plays is drum rolls all over with accents. Bonham had 5 drums and 3 cymbals with a gong and a pair of congas to his left and is still able to produce so many different sounds. He plays without sticks! and no one can play that class triplet crossover fill like he can (fellow drummers will know what I am talking about). I cant even begin to imagine the kind of solo Bonham could have pulled off on a set like Peart's. although I like the smaller set better. keep it old school
also patrick keeler of the raconteurs and greenhornes is another awesome drummer

Lars is over rated, he was good early on, but black album and after the guy lost his mojo. Travis Barker, now there is a drummer. You tube some of his studio stuff he does. The guy can take any song and make it better.
Randy Castillo is another.....R.I.P.
