How much should the end of cycle water change be? I've read anywhere from 20% - 50%, but what is recommended?
Is it ok to do this water change if there is only a slight trace of Nitrites (.1) left or should you wait until they are absolutely 0?
THANKS!

I did 25%, then re-tested 48 hours later.
Wait for nitrites to be zero, otherwise you might just lenghten the cycle time.

I changes out 75% every 2 days throughout the cycle!!
End of cycle change... you can do however much you want. At least 20% though, IMO.
Yes it's OK to change it before the trates get to 0, but don't add any livestock until it's at 0.:)

Tizzo,
75% every two days during the cycle? Didn't that make it last forever? Just curious.
Most likely my Nitrites will be 0 before I am even ready to do the water change. I have some mixing now. I was just curious if the last little trace mattered, or if the end of cycle water change would take care of it.

No it lasted about 10 days. It was LR I ordered from this sight. So it was supposed to be precured. I knew I was gonna have hitch-hikers on it so I wanted to keep the water just a little cleaner. Good thing I did too cause I had an urchin, two different corals and a crab!!

I ususally recommend a 30% water change, give it a week, test and you should be good to go.
Once you get over that cycle and are ready let me know.

The end is in sight! Probably sometime next week, but I will email you so we can work out the specifics.
Thanks Thomas!
