New here, just started a 75 gal about a month ago. Water was finally looking good so we added a Black edge eel he is about 10 inches long. Currently his tank buddies are a filefish, blue damsel, and a yellow belly damsel. Looking to maybe add a couple more fish to the tank, maybe a lionfish and a snow flake. What are your thoughts on them also is there any fish I could add that would bury in the sand?
BTW, How do you guys get such good pictures I want to put some up of him, I'm trying to use a rebel slr any advice?

Congrats on the eel...
Are you aware that this is possibly the most aggressive moray in this hobby? I think a slow moving fish like a filefish will be vulnerable to the eel. I also would not add a snowflake or any other fish that will bury itself in the sand... I'd give this guy as much room as possible. In truth, all your fish are at risk but the damsels may be quick enough to survive.
Good luck.

Well the filefish was a freebie from the fish store so, i'm not that worried, plus he is rather big for a filefish so he may be alright. Honestly I watched them for hours last night with the lights off and the yellowbelly was actually chasing the eel around so I dont know. He was in with a wolf eel at the fish store. He isnt eating live fish just shrimp pellets so maybe that will help. If he shows to much aggression I will take him back and trade him for a Snow Flake.

I used to think damsels and a six line wrasse were too fast for a eel. Lets just say my eel ate good one night. I finally got him to eat frozen foods. He destroys frozen lance fish. Its great. Good luck with the eel. You may have a species only tank soon. Its not fair to the eel that you bought him without doing your homework though. Word of advice. Read up on a fish before you allow a impluse buy get the best of you.

Kind of but the yellowbelly damsel is fearless and as she was in there first she thinks the entire rock setup is hers. I going to add some more rock and a pipe for him this weekend.

that's cool, I have PVC tunnels in both of my eel tanks and they love it.

Another night, everyone still there. Actually the filefish was stealing the eels food from him last night right in front of him and the eel didnt even care. The positive thing is he has been in the tank 3 nights and has eaten every night and from what I've read it can be hard to get them to eat so Im happy.

Update on this, we added a P. puffer and had to remove the yellow belly as it kept attacking the puffer, poor guy. We've also added a gulf toadfish and a lionfish. So far everything is going good I'll try to add some pics tonight. Numbers are looking good as well.
