Just Added Phosguard.

OK i just added some phosguard to my tank. I put it in the same bag as my charcoal is this ok?

sure that should be fine. Phosguard didn't seem to work for me. I used Kent Marine's Phoshate Sponge. That and using R/O helped a tremendous amount.

Recently I used phosgard. It seemed to work, but took a couple of weeks. I haven't used Kent's. Hopefully won't need to use either in the future.

what is the actual affect of phosphates in the tank???

if you have a skimmer ,try Salifert Phosphate Eliminator, its a liquid, works real well,

Update and let me know how it works out. I just put some in myself, used my containers on my emperor 400 to place it in. I wasn't sure whether it or Kents worked better either. Also just changed over to using RO/DI water. Bought two 5 gallon containers and bought the water for .50 a gallon from the LFS. Gonna start using it for top offs and partial changes. Hopefully the mixture of the two will help get the red algae under control.
