OK I've got a 20 gallon octogon tank with 25lbs of live rock, 1 emerald crab, 5 blue leg crabs, 1 coral beauty, and 1 coral banded shrimp. Said tank is filtered by a Penguin 100 which has a modified intake tube that is attached to the tube on an under gravel filter plate that has 20lbs of crushed coral.
Water changes 2 gallons weekly. All is/was fine until my CBS went missing. My question is do they climb to the point that it could have climbed out? Do they bury themselves? Or could above mentioned tank mates make a snack of it. I have looked for days and cannot find it or a exoskeleton or any sign that it even lived in there...... If they climb out i'm gonna guess one of my dogs or cats had a snack.......

i think it might be dead.
i think they need larger tanks. cause i had one in my 20gal long tank and it just randomly died.

I sort of figured that it was dead just didn't know if maybe they climb out since there is no carcass to be found in the tank. If they do climb out then I know that one of my four legged friends had a very small snack.

I realize this is not what you were asking, but isn't a 20g a little too small for a Coral Beauty???...Especially an octo since it is higher rather than longer...

It is but since it is temporary and he is the only finned swimmer in there......
He is loving it being in there alone opposed to 80 gallon that he was in always having to hide from the demonic damsels that were in there with him.
80 is being re-scaped and damsels have gone to the 120 for the lion or grouper to have a snack. The 80, when done will be home for the beauty and much more user friendly for him.
