Just found my loud tick noise in my tank?

Now that I have all my creatures in my small tank while the big one is being built. I noticed that I was getting the same loud ticking at night. Well I went in and checked to see what was going on and whooaaaa. I figured it out. It was my shrimp. This little guy digs my sand from under my rocks, and creates tunnels. He eats anything on the sand that is left over.
I am second guessing on keeping him in for this tank now that I know he is making the noise. He just swims fast into the glass, and I guess his hard shell sounds like a rock on the glass.
Should I keep him? I did put my LR in the new tank first before the sand. That way he will not dig out the rock and make it fall. He does eat anything. I will loose a fish and he will snatch it up and take it into his cave. I'm not sure if that is good or bad. they were only small fish, and he did not kill them.
Here is a pic of the accused.

Can you get another pic or make this one brighter? Loud clicking sounds are either mantis shrimp or pistol shrimp. Sounds like you may have a pistol shrimp as the evidence of digging suggests. The first is a known shrimp/snail/hermit/fish killer and needs to be removed. The second is a also known as a goby shrimp and will pair up with one for protection if introduced in your tank. With all things this is not garaunteed so don't buy the goby unless you like it. It also depends on the goby. Typically they are the watchman gobies. Do searches for both shrimp i know for certain there are pictures of mantis all over this board.

At the moment he is in my 29 tank. It sounds like he is swimming as fast as he can to either side. The tank is glass so it sounds like a pebble hitting a window. or a rock on a windshield of a car. I wish my camera recorded sound I woud post it.

It is a pistol shrimp. I bought it with the idea that the fish I bought would work together. Well the fish didn't coperate. He ended up in my overflow and dead.
What should I do? Should I keep it.

Your best bet for a pair with him is any kind of watchman goby. They come in a few varieties, orange, pink, blue, etc. The watchmans get about 5 inches max. Just make sure the two of them get food. They will be on the bottom of your tank and may not see as much as the free swiming fish :)
