I got my order in early today from the "u-build it".
I was very proud of the coral banded shrimp and the peppermints.
Now that I have my lights on; they are nowhere to be found!
I've taken a flashlight to every corner of the tank and nothing.
I took all my water readings and they are normal?
Everything else I ordered seems to be doing fine.
I can understand the peppermints hiding because they are so small, but not the coral banded!?
Sorry, I am really just disapointed not to see anything. I'm afraid that something happened to him, :(

i would say to give it a few days. i'm sure they will pop out after they get aquainted to the new surroundings. anything you add to your tank will most likely need an adjustment period. ;)

when i got my order the peppermint shrimp hid for at least 2 or 3 weeks before they would come out in the open on a regular basis. Just give them a little time. I finally found the emerald crab too. I thought he died about a month ago but he is still in there.

Thanks for the replys, but the coral banded?
I really do not see how he could hide!
Like I said; I'm just disapointed.Maybe I'm also concerned.
If they do show up, I'll post the good news.
THX again.

if you are referring to the fact that they use corals as a "host", then don't rely on that because that's all apart of them feeding, not for protection. it'll come out soon enough.
btw-did you acclimate them properly?

Hey dad....do you have ANY dottybacks....especially a neon dottyback...if you do that is prob what happen to them..... dottybacks are very aggressive with it comes to shimp and crabs....its meal time for them!! I had two shimp in my tank and i had a neon dottyback and he killed both of them and my emerald crab!!...just a thought!....GOOD LUCK.....HAPPY REEFING! :D

I just got an order today too and the only thing I can see is my feather duster and that's because it can't move! It is quite normal for inverts and fish to hide until they are more comfortable in their surroundings. I can imagine how scared they must be after the whole catching and shipping process, they don't realize they are now in a safe place.
By the way are your lights on? I find it is better to leave them off the first day or two, or at least reduce the amount of time they are on.

Dad,
My CBS hides all day. Only comes out when I feed the tank or after the lights go off. Mine hangs upside down from a rock all day. Usually in the same spot. Fish swim by and he just sits there. When my sailfin was sick he would hang out beside the CBS. I guess he thought it would clean him like a cleaner shrimp would..
P.S. If you see him floating around the tank. Don't worry. They Molt! The first time I saw this, I though mine was dead...
