I've had my tank setup for 8 months so im taking it that its pretty well established for a anemone. I just got it today so it put it in and as soon as it placed its foot it started walking and went straight behind a rock and is in back of the tank is this normal behavior for a anemone when you first put it in?

it's normal...especially when you first add them.
They are mobile animals you know, and they're going to move around until they find a comfortable spot. Just pray it's not in the back behind rocks where nobody can see it....or on the other hand you could have it sticking on the glass for all to see its poo hole. (don't ask)

Looks like you got all the answers. THey are animals that will find where they want to go. I have a condi that has been walking around my tank now for a week and it has been in tehre for a few months. For 4 days it hid under the rock, then went behind the rock, now is under a piece in the front again. Unfortunatly i will prob have to find a new home cuase i am afraid that he is gonna kill my sps.

Any time that i have an anemone move that much or hide behind a rock I have too much flow. What kind of flow do u have in ur tank?

He isn't in a area where he is getting high flow i don't even have high flow in my tank so i don't think that flow is a issue.

Yeah could be a light acclimation issue.
Hey by the way I am looking for a bright red one, how much did you pay for it and where did you get it?

If it has attached itself to a rock, you could rearrange your rock so that it is in the front (I have tried this in the past). There is still a chance that it may then move to the back again (this, also, has happened to me).

We've had a green bta since March of this year. When we upgraded to our corner tank, he anchored his foot underneath a rocky overhang and sticks himself out front and center of the middle of the tank. He hasn't moved an inch. Our wavemaker is in the corner opposite him and when it was first installed, the bta was getting blown over and blown flat but he never moved. About 2 months ago, we got a sebae and put him in a similar spot in the front middle of the tank. Unfortunately, 2 days later he moved to the other side of the rock so we can only see a bit of his side and the tips of his tentacles sticking out. I'm hoping that he'll eventually come back front again but he hasn't moved at all so he's happy where he is. At least we have a glimpse of him! Be patient with anemones and give your bta a chance. He'll eventually move out into the light and let's hope he'll come out on the viewing side!

Like many previous replies stated, they will move as they wish. I would say that eventually he will find a home that he likes and stay in that area. If he keeps moving I would say it is not a good sign, especially if any other strange things are going on. I had one continue to move even after replacing him in a better spot, trying to hide etc and not staying out in light. He was doing other strange things as well though so watch the normal behaviors that should be there, light reaction, eating, etc. If those are normal, he should probably settle down at some point and be ok. Hope this helps!

I think it's normal for them to do that, mine went behind the rocks and stayed there several months, at times I would put some light on it and it would purk up some and eventually came out and found a home it liked in the light. now my rose tip has spit and I have two and I have a green bubble tip thats spit six times, but they all started out hiding behind the rocks.
