Ours get Spectrum pellets, shaved salmon, Hikari mysis, and BS+ for the most part. We actually use the pellets for between meal "snax" as opposed to simply feeding them pellets.

Any reason why a mostly pellet diet would be a bad thing?

Pellets do not offer the nutritional value that frozen foods can offer.
