I have had freshwater discuss for a long time and about 3 yrs ago shut all my tanks down. I have always wanted a saltwater, and found a 55gal that i brought home yesterday. There is something all over the rocks that I am not sure what it is. I am just starting to research, so i am sure someone here can let me know what it is. And what is these worm type things on rock in the first picture. Any info will help. Thanks
.

I'm on my phone and it is hard to tell from the pictures. If I had to guess, it's probably aiptasia or hydroids.

Hi, Welcome to the site!
It is Aiptasia....At least its early and easier to get rid of them before you had a tank full of critters. I like Joes juice or aiptasia X...then first critter to get will be peppermint shrimps to eat any little ones that crop up later.

joe you are so bad.
luckily i havnt had aiptasia in years.my 90 reef was loaded with hundreds of them .i bought 12 peppermint shrimp and they went to town on them.
yea thats alot of shrimp but i noticed that if you only get 2 or 3 they seem too shy to go to work.

Thank you guys, i have been looking at pics and believe it is aiptasia. He had some aiptasia x in the box. I started to kill some, it is all over everything. It is even on my crab shells. It was all over the rocks when I took the tank, but was not sure what it was. It was only about 2 hours transfer time. It is spreading in the last 2 days since I got the tank. I will get a couple peppermint shrimp, and continue to kill them with the aiptasia x. Not sure how much of that I should use at one time. Thank again
