Just introducing myself

Some LFS sell RO/DI. The one closest to me sells it for around a $ per gal. I got my own filter on-line for around $120. It's the best money I've ever spent. Like you, I had an extensive fresh water background. It took me a little while to accept it but RO makes a BIG difference.
Welcome and good luck.

HI back at ya Who Dey :joy:
We have a "Water & Ice" store that sells it. Check around, you might be surprised who carries it. Like others said, you can also buy your own RO system at Lowe's or some place like that. That's what we are planning on doing once the tank is set up, but to fill a 125 gallon tank, I'm just going to buy the water, as most undersink unites will only do so many gallons per hour. But with your smaller tank it would be easy enough for you. Good luck, and can't wait to see your pics.

Sounds like i'll be on a quest to find water tomorrow, thanks everyone for the suggestion! Our water here probably isn't the greatest, the cats won't drink it.
It also sounds like buying a unit is the way to go, i'll start a new thread with my questions about them.

try your local Walmart ,some have ro water or distilled water by the gallon. If you buy an ro unit you can get buy with a 24gpd unit, drain into a rubber maid or large garbage can, with a power head and heater, make sure you buffer the water as you will use as top off water (most ro water will be in the low 6's for a ph)save your money don't buy a tap water filter, most any hardware you buy shop on line.

No lurking!!! We want you to be a contributing part of the community. We all can learn from each other.
Welcome to the boards. The book Ophiura linked to from this sight is a great one. I'd suggest getting it before you set up your next tank.
Welcome, hope you have a great experience here with this community.

Hello!
You will definitely have fun with this hobby and it sounds like you will give the tank all the care it needs.

I'm already addicted! I have the Concientious Marine Aquarist and have been reading it from the first page and looking up other questions I have that I haven't come to in it yet.
Thank you everyone for all of your help, suggestions and friendly welcomes!
