First off I have a 100 gal tank and 150lbs of live rock I just started to pick up some corals and only have a few pieces of coral.
I tested my previous filtration system and found that it was only moving roughly 200 gal of water per hour. So I decided to upgrade. Through suggestions made by users in previous post I decided to purchase the following;
CPR overflow box rated for 800 gph
mag drive 9.5 rated for 900 gph (800 gph at 4 ft)
and a sea swirl oscillating return device
Overall very happy with the purchase I have made just a few questions since I am not used to such rapid water movement.
1. My fish were not used to such rapid water movement is it possible that it will take my tang and clown fish time to adjust to the change in the tank. I have not seen either one since changing over the filter late last night.
2. I never shut off my filter for feeding before now with all of this movement I would believe you have to shut off the pumps prior to each feeding??????????
3. I don't understand what use their is for the vent tube on the backof the overflow box. You can adjust the height with the o ring however I can't figure out what benefits their are to the diffrent heights?????
On one very positive not my green star polyps have been swaying in the current like never before. I can't wait to go buy another coral that moves like that any suggestions??

your fish will have no problem to adjusting to the new current.
I don't shut off my pumps during feeding, some people do but it's not a necessary thing.
The vent tube on the CPR is critical to it's use and to keeping your floor dry. You need to attach this to a PH in your tank so that the PH will pull out any air that builds up in the overflow. If you let the air build up you will lose syphon and then your return pump will empty your sump into your tank and overflow it. do a search on CPR overflows on this site and you will read the horror stories. Definitely use the vent tube with a PH or you are asking for a flood.
