Be carefull around the people you love if your gonna quit. If you start getting cranky around them try to get away from them until you can calm down.
On one of my dad attempts to quit smoking he took me and my brother fishing to try to relax.
Long story short, he ended up saying something to me that I would rather not repeat.
I know he didnt mean what he said, and I understand he was craving real bad and was cranky, but it still hurts and Ill never forget it.

well congrats on your decision and best of luck to you!!! it's best to have people around you who aren't afraid to yell at you and do whatever it takes to keep you from smoking. it's not easy for either person and there will always be some fighting but a good enough friend or family member knows that it's the addiction talking and won't be mad for long. best wishes and always keep your eye on the prize!!

i just quit in Oct so i know the pain...but you seem motivated and determined and that;s the only thing that is going to make you successful. Unfortunately there is no magic pill or laser treatment. What helped me was actually just researching smoking and all the damage it does to the body. It's weird, the more i researched and educated myself on the dangers(we all know the dangers) the easier it was to stay motivated. I also joined a support group and more or less just read stories and people's experiences of what they were going through, lets you know it's normal and you're not alone. the website is quitsmokingsupport.com also get yourself a free quitkeeper log . lets you know how many cigs you havent smoked in a time frame and the money saved and the amount of life gained.
GOod luck, stay strong.....it does get easier after a while.

don't get frustrated or give up the quit if you happen to have a cig either, just quit again, right away and try not to do it again....remember it's only you vs the cig. 3 days for all the nicotine to leave the body, then it's just reprogramming you're habits and mind.
Lots and lots of candy, gum, toothpicks, pens, anything for the hand, mouth stimulation. Brush teeth often....and Gallons of water make it easier to flush the toxins out of the body.

Very good friend of mine, smoker --> just diagnosed with lung cancer.
Five years if she is very lucky (less than 10% chance).
6 months on the short end, with Chemo all the way.
Is it REALLY worth it? How hard is the chemo and dying compared to quitting smoking?

yea thats unfortunate sorry to hear that. Anyway heres the update I was reading online all the sites that help you quit and they say even if you fall off the wagon just accept it as a moment of weakness and move on. Made me feel better because yesterday I was really stressin over this presentation and had a cigarette but haven't had one since so over all it has been goin good. I have been pretty crappy with people sometimes but thats about it. I have been chewing gum like crazy and chewing on stirers for coffe etc... has helped with the cravings.

one of the hardest things is that you obsess over a cig and think about it all day and night...that drives you nuts, but it does slowly go away .....say you go 10-15 mins without thinking about it , reward yourself,,,pat on the back ,,,who knows.....take pride in every little step you take ....baby steps, baby steps,

see those are all temp fixes....it's easy to rid the body of the nicotine, it's hard to break that psychological dependancy. It's a habit, habits are hard to break, i still catch myself in moments of going to have a cig, (not a craving) and then realizing i don't smoke anymore. ANyways who knows what the side effects are for these things. If you can do it with the least amount of outside help the better off you'll be in the long run

Here's a story.
My Grampy smoked.
He died at age 58.
The end.
This is exactly why cigarettes are not my thing.

I just quite chewing three days ago. My fiance brought me home this chew thats made out of tea leaves and stuff that is all natural and it has no nicotine or tobacco in it. So every time I get the craving I just take a dip of it instead, its working ok. It just doesn't have the taste of good ol Copenhagen, but I think its gonna work. I too have the short/bad temper, and a few bad headaches from not having the nicotine. But I wish every one the best of luck on quiting.

My friend. He is 15. He dipped for about a year. He had to have surgery on his mouth three times after that. Hes so scared of it now.
