It was very "DIS"
Disapointing!
Very Disatisfying!
And Very Discombobulated!
I was expecting much more and feel the show deserved "More" for its last episode!
Anybody else wanna chime in?

Ill chime in. This was by far the worst episode i have ever seen. What kind of an ending was that. To be honest this show was over in 2005. I dont even know why i continued to watch it.

I think Chase has no intentions of a movie. he knows that he has made probably the greatest drama series in the history of tv, and he's smart enough to know it's over.
as for the ending, I thought it was great. Chase has always been known for leaving loose ends, and he did just that. he's also known to keep it realistic, and he did that too. he could've ended it with a 1 hour bloodbath, but how realistic would that have been?

The bad thing was he tried to pack 3 hours of drama into a one hour show, he opened so many new topics instead on tying loose ends. More of a bloodbath. WHY NOT? Isnt that real "mafia stories" Assuming you saw last weeks episode, you whack his brother in law, They put your #1 captain on life support. I mean why do you start opening so many loose ends? BUT then Pontius, YOU ARE RIGHT, that is DAVID CHASE style, I mean im still dying to find out what happen to that KGB agent in the woods 6yrs ago, lol

well, I think The Sopranos is truer to what the mafia is today. "Goodfellas" is truer to what the mafia was in the 70s and "Godfather" was what the mafia was in the 50s and 60s. they don't just go around killing everybody nowadays, starting wars etc.
and from episode 1, this show has always been about the ties that bind a family together, whether it's a blood family or a mob family. the mob and the killing just happened to be the backdrop. but I liked the ending, it left me wanting more, which is what a good ending should do. when they started killing everybody last week, I thought Chase had finally soldout for the complainers who wanted only the violence. but I thought he finished it off nicely.
****SPOILERS from here on down:****
so the cat was looking at the pic of Chrissy (possibly a 'rat'?). and then when we last saw Paulie, we see the cat staring at him. so you think Paulie was the rat who was bringing down the federal indictment? afterall, Paulie wasn't interested in any new jobs. think Sil lived or died? think the newly empowered AJ (from being put in the movie biz) will follow the old man's footsteps?
also, I'm glad Phil got what he had coming, even though it's kind of a stretch seeing a NY boss get offed by a NJ crew.
and yeah, I'd like to know what happened with the Russian too. that's always been the biggest loose end.

this is not my theory nor did I write this. a friend found this on Sopranoland - what do you guys think???
"WOW!!!! AMAZING!!!
OK, at first I was really angry. I mean really, really angry. I can't believe though that no-one has posted by now what happened. The only thing I saw that was right, was that in the last scene we are seeing through Tony's eyes. Remember when he was speaking with Bobby...basically saying that you don't see it happening?
So here is what I found out. The guy at the bar is also credited as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn't that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil's brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident. Absolutely Genius!!!! David Chase is truly rewarding the true fans who pay attention to detail.
So the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy scouts were in the train store and the black guys at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2 or 3?).
Absolutely incredible!!!! There were three people in the restaurant who had reason to kill Tony and then it just ends. This was Chase's way of proving that he will not escape his past. It will not go on forever despite that he would like it to "don't stop". Not the fans!!! Tony would like it to keep going but just as we have to say goodbye, so does he. No more Tony and I guess we are supposed to be happy that Meadow didn't get clipped as well (she would have been between the shooter and Tony) since she is the only one worth a crap in that family.
Thank you David Chase for making it so obscure that I feel bad for hating you at first. Absolutely amazing!!!!"

ur probably not gonna believe this but my aunt lives directly across from Tony Soprano in NJ. and her husband, my uncle i never met, was killed by the Unibomber incident in '93 by a bomb in the same house.

that would be really cool if it were true, but it's not. the guy is not credited as "Nikki Leotardo", he is credited as "man at bar in diner". the actor is a pizza shop owner in NJ and he never appeared in any previous episode or scene, I read an online newspaper story on him.
as far as the 2 black guys, one of those guys was killed by Tony, so it wasn't those 2 guys unless one of them was a ghost.
I have re-watched the final scene 3 times now, and I have not seen any boy scouts in the diner, though I won't deny they were there.
I have also seen a claim that Adriana was sitting at a table in the diner, but I haven't seen her either.

Darn it Pontius! now I'll be watching the Holstens scene over and over ... I think there was a boy scout or scouts in the scene. I've also heard there were no actors from previous episodes present also.

there are a lot of clues that could be pulled from that final episode to point to what Chase may have been thinking, and I hope the DVD will have Chase giving some of his own thoughts and intentions and possibly show any alternate endings that were filmed (it was said that 3 were filmed). I definitely think the cat was introduced into the finale for a reason. I also think it showing Meadow attempting to parallel park over and over was Chase trying to say something. also, it shows AJ, Carmella, and Tony each eat an onion ring, like it is some kind of communion for their sins or something. when Tony visits Carmella at the beachouse, he starts eating an orange. in past episodes, oranges have indicated a death about to happen. over 6 seasons, there's a lot to be analyzed and learn. David Chase is truly a genius.
there also was a theory that the 9 final episodes were a parallel to the 9 levels of hell in Dante's Inferno. David Chase himself came out and said this was not true at all. it's in the only interview he's done since the finale. he won't give any clues as to what was meant to happen, basically he said, "it's all there if you want to watch it". hmmm.
I think it was perfect to leave it up to the viewer. if you wanted Tony to die, then he died. if you wanted him to live, then he lived. I love that ending, I didn't want to see him or any of his family die in the end.
