well, I think The Sopranos is truer to what the mafia is today. "Goodfellas" is truer to what the mafia was in the 70s and "Godfather" was what the mafia was in the 50s and 60s. they don't just go around killing everybody nowadays, starting wars etc.
and from episode 1, this show has always been about the ties that bind a family together, whether it's a blood family or a mob family. the mob and the killing just happened to be the backdrop. but I liked the ending, it left me wanting more, which is what a good ending should do. when they started killing everybody last week, I thought Chase had finally soldout for the complainers who wanted only the violence. but I thought he finished it off nicely.
****SPOILERS from here on down:****
so the cat was looking at the pic of Chrissy (possibly a 'rat'?). and then when we last saw Paulie, we see the cat staring at him. so you think Paulie was the rat who was bringing down the federal indictment? afterall, Paulie wasn't interested in any new jobs. think Sil lived or died? think the newly empowered AJ (from being put in the movie biz) will follow the old man's footsteps?
also, I'm glad Phil got what he had coming, even though it's kind of a stretch seeing a NY boss get offed by a NJ crew.
and yeah, I'd like to know what happened with the Russian too. that's always been the biggest loose end.
