Just started a 10G nano. Some ?'s

Hi. I'm new to the site but have been reading alot on it. I have a 55G tank and started a 10G nano in my room. It has been up for a couple months now. Here's what I have in it:
1-damsel
1-emerald crab
1-bubble tip anenome
1-candy cane coral
1-anenome crab
1-feather duster
1-brittle starfish
A few turbo snails and some blue legs
About 2 inches of sand and 15-20 lbs of Fiji rock
I was wondering if the tank is too small for the anenome? I had him in my 55 before. He seems to be fine but last night he got sucked onto the powerhead. I unplugged it and he moved away and is fine. It's a 230 GPH head. Is this too big for a small tank? I'm thinking it might be but it doesn't appear to be blowing anything around too much, he just got too close to it. If it is too big what size should I go with? Also, do I need to wait quite a while in between adding corals? I don't want to get int a big rush and add too much. I have a 28W PC that the LFS said would be fine for shrooms and a few corals. I was gonna go with the 96W PC but it was a little much for what I can afford right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think your BTA is going to do well. I have never had one but from what I've read they need lots of light. 28w PC is pretty marginal for LPS. The thing you've got going for you is that nothing is going to be to far from the light. I had, for a time, 2X28 PC on my 10 & stuff was OK. You might need to feed you emerald some nori once a week or so depending upon your algae situation. No comment/opinion on the brittle star as I've never had one.
Good Luck!
Gotta love those 10's!

i have 96 watt PC on my 10gallon, and my corals are doing great. I have a anemone in my tank that is doing good, damn thing has tripled in size in the last couple of months.
I had two powerheads in mine, the smallest rios i could find, i want to say the rio 50 or 15 (can't remember). I ended up turning one off because it was just too much.
the 96watt PC was only like $150.00.

Thanks for the input. Yea, I got the 28W for less than 1/3 of what the 96 costs and the store said it will be okay. You said the anenome would need more light but I have a friend who has one under just flourescents and it has split into 2 and both pieces are double the original size. It looks great and has for over a year probably. I'm not arguing your point, just suprised. I didn't know he needed much light. He seems healthy. black99l, you said you're not running a powerhead at all? I have mine off now too but was told that the slime the anenome creates needs current to carry it away and keep it from suffocating. I have a filter so there's still some movement of water but I didn't know if I had to have more or not. Thanks alot guys for your input. I've learned so much from this site. Can't wait till the day I can afford to get a 100+G reef tank. Thanks again.

I wanted to move up to larger tanks but then got hooked on nanos. The powerhead I use is a Hagen 120. The neat thing about it is that it's adjustable. I've heard some real good reviews on the 96 quad with 10's.

I turned off one of power heads. i have a hang on filter in the middle and i have a powerhead in both corners, i turned one off and i have one running now. 96w PC during the day and a 18w blue moon at night.

here is an attachment of my anenome:

He looks cool. That's what mine looks like but solid white. I've heard before that if they're white that means they're not healthy, that no anenome should be white if it's healthy. Is there any truth to that? Mine's been that way for several months and looks fine to me. And I've seen plenty of them like this. He's still real close to my power head so I guess tomorrow I'll buy a smaller one and replace the 230GPH one with it. Thanks for the help! Any suggestions on how long I need to wait before adding more corals? Thanks.

Smaller power heads = rio 50 and 90..... The 50 does about 60pgh and the 90 about 80 or 90.... Both are quiet for rios. You want a power head that does about 5 times an hour turnover. Your bta will get sucked in again until he roots himself where he wants.....

not all anemones need super bright light but all need regular feeding. I am not an anemone expert by any means.
230 GPH in a 10 gallon is a 23 times turn over so that is a lot of motion .... people suggest 10 to 20 times turnover. I think you would be fine as long as you don't have a constant sandstorm.
