JUST Started Cycling. Few Quick Qs

Hi everyone. I started my cycling process yesterday and I have a few questions. Help will be greatly appreciated.
This is a FOWLR tank, 2" LS.
I started the cycle w/ 2 shrimp and will add the LR today.
1) Do I need to have the lights and heater running while cycling?
2) Do I have to monitor pH and salinity levels while cycling, or just worry about the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate levels ?
3) I have a Fluval 404 and Model 150 wet/dry w/ skimmer. Should I have this whole system running while the cycling is occuring? LFS told me to disconnect the skimmer and put it back in when cycle ends.
Thanks a lot

Quick answers:
1 - heater yes, lights don't really matter - maybe put them on for live rock though.
2 - Don't worry about ph, but keep an eye on the others.
3 - There will be nothing to skim yet, but some say yes, some say no. I wouldn't bother skimming yet.
